An exploration of old world photographic techniques blended with new world technologies.

With the acceleration of the digital age during the years of the global pandemic, blockchain technology became a malleable tool adopted by a new branch of the artworld. My explorations into this space found a natural progression in the timeline of what came before. My introduction and seed for this new work was bringing my painting into an immersive space using Virtual Reality to build the forms which I had visualised and painted over the past 10+ years. Instantly, there was a profound realisation that these digital sculptures blur the lines of the definition of presence. While we may not be able to see the objects they do still exist within a digital realm, currently only accessible through a digital medium.

I chose, for this series, to pull forward my traditional film photography and digitally implant my sculptures within the scene then render the finished artworks. While these are the finished artworks, I also have coinciding explorations into VR accessible scale replications of the finished artworks and geo-locating the sculptures out in the real world using Augmented Reality.
